Dream The Impossible – The Impact

On the 8th September 2022 we held Dream the Impossible the Sequel.    The evening saw 11 of Manchester iconic restaurants (Hawksmoor, Australasia, Grand Pacific, Tattu, San Carlo, Gusto, The Alchemist Spinningfields, Habas, Bull and Bear, 20 Stories and Duttons) come together to host 1200 guests in the city.  At 11pm the guests continued their evening at an after-party hosted by The Albert Hall.  Having distributed the funding to the 7 Beneficiary Charities we now know how they have used their donation. Casual Bar and Dining Awards Raise £5.1K for TBF

We attended the Casual Bar and Dining Awards as their charity partner on the 27th April 2023 in London.  Supported by a team of volunteers from Sixty Eight People, Mr Yum, Storylocker and Living Ventures to help us colleect donations at the Grosvenor Square Marriott.  We can’t thank our volunteers enough giving up their valuable free time to help us.

Our team of volunteers made their way efficiently around all 41 tables.  Awarding the table who raised the most on the evening a Magnum of Rose Champagne,  donated by Moet Hennessy. 

We are blown away by the generosity of the hospitality audience raising an amazing total of £5,100 on the evening !

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that donated and would like to congratulate everyone who won an award.

DREAM the IMPOSSIBLE II – RAISES £425,000

5th October 2022

We have been hard at work counting all the proceeds from Dream the Impossible II. The event was, as promised, bigger and better than the inaugural event in 2017. More than 1350 people attended over 11 restaurants supported by 18 different corporate sponsors raising funds for 8 cancer charities in the Manchester region.

We are proud and delighted to announce the profit from the event was a staggering £425,000. This was an amazing effort by the TBF Dream Team who give their time and expertise to the charity and of course this could not have been possible without vital contributions from businesses and the hospitality industry to which we are eternally grateful.

TBF partnership with The Alchemist rasies £43,390 for Bloodcancer UK

The Alchemist Bar and Restaurant raised an amazing total of £43,390 and they couldn’t have achieved this without the generosity and support of their staff and customers during 2021.

TBF partnered with The Alchemist and Bloodcancer UK to raise funds for a Clinical Nurse Advisor and a Medical Social Worker to support those living with blood cancer.  The money was raised through £1 on the Bill during September – Bloodcancer Awareness Month.  Teams of Alchemist staff from across the country raised sponsorship and joined the Tim Bacon Foundation at the start line of the Great Manchester 10k too for the TBF Hospitality Challenge.

Why the donation was so invaluable

Living with blood cancer, or supporting a loved one who has been diagnosed, can be incredibly difficult at any time, but the pandemic has been especially tough for the blood cancer community. People with blood cancer are extremely vulnerable to becoming seriously ill from the coronavirus, this is due to their weakened immune systems.

Recent evidence also suggests that people with blood cancer are less likely to be protected by existing Covid vaccines because of the nature of their cancer or treatment. This means that whilst everyone else’s life is getting back to normal, the lives of those with blood cancer are still on pause and many have been shielding since March 2020.

The pandemic has had a huge toll on the mental health of the blood cancer community, both from the fear of contracting Covid and the sense of isolation from trying to avoid it. This has led to a significant increase in demand for specialised blood cancer support services. The money raised has been invaluable to ensure services have been available to all.

Stephanie Cullen from Blood Cancer UK commented:

‘We are incredibly proud to be working with the The Alchemist and the Tim Bacon Foundation to help make a difference for people affected by blood cancer.

Thanks to their fantastic support, we have been able to fund two key roles on our support line: a Clinical Nurse Advisor and a Medical Social Worker. Both roles provide high quality emotional and practical support and trusted information for all blood cancers.

Our support line is a free and confidential service offers a safe space for all people with blood cancer, their friends and family, and for anyone worried about the disease. This service has been a vital resource throughout the pandemic, as people with blood cancer are extremely vulnerable to Covid-19. And after almost two years of the pandemic, it has taken a great toll on their wellbeing.

So far over 2021, our Support Service team has received over 5,000 calls and emails. Recently, we have seen an increase in calls from patients and family members who are concerned about new Covid-19 variants. Additionally, the rising number of blood cancer patients dying from the virus is hugely worrying for our community, and as a result people are continuing to call us for emotional support throughout this difficult period.

As we continue to face an uncertain 2022, Blood Cancer UK will continue to be here for anyone affected by the disease. We want to say a huge thank you to each member of the teams at The Alchemist and the Tim Bacon Foundation, your support will help make a real difference to the blood cancer community.’

Dream the Impossible – The Sequel Launches

17th February 2022

We are excited to announce that some of Manchester’s best-known restaurants are uniting with us for a city-wide fundraising takeover. The aim of the night is to bring 1,300 people together dining at top restaurants across the city centre before gathering at the Albert Hall for music and dancing at the culmination of the night.

The restaurants joining us for the evening are The Alchemist, Gusto, Grand Pacific, Australasia, San Carlo, Habas, The Bull and Bear, Hawksmoor, 20 Stories, Tattu, and Duttons. All the restaurants will be digitally connected via TV screens for a silent auction.

Jeremy said: “The Tim Bacon Foundation has now raised close to £1m towards a range of cancer-related causes, including £500,000 towards the Proton Beam Therapy Centre, which opened at the Christie in 2018.

“A further £100,000 has been donated by the foundation to Prevent Breast Cancer, for two vital research projects along with donations to Maggie’s, Joshua Tree and Kidscan – all Manchester based charities helping people living with cancer.”

He adds: “We are proud of what we’ve achieved, but we are really excited to do it again bigger and even better so we can all honour Tim’s memory and help those affected by cancer, which will affect one in every two people.”

There has been tremendous support this year from Manchester’s restaurants, and we are now seeking sponsorship from city businesses for the individual restaurant events at £15,000 each.

Each package comes with 20 tickets, meaning sponsors staff and guests can take part, in what is set to be the biggest charity event the city’s hospitality industry has ever seen.

Tim Bacon Foundation at The Casual Dining Show

13th October 2021

It was great to be invited as the Charity Partner for the Casual Bar and Dining Show at the Excel in London last month.  We caught up  with some old friends and also met some new ones.  We can’t thank CDS 21 enough to allow us to have such a presence at the show where we could chat about our new Corporate Partnership Programme matching hospitality business with cancer charities.

Joshua Tree Official Opening

12th October 2021

It was lovely to be invited to the official opening of The Joshua Tree Children with Cancer support Centre in Cheshire.  The invite came following our donation of  £30,000 that we raised with support the New World Trading Company.

The donation was for a beautiful garden space for the children to enjoy when they are visiting the Centre. It was great to see the garden growing to its full potential.   We were pleased to see the hedgerows thriving,  a team of volunteers from New World Trading planted these in April 2021.

Tim Bacon Foundation Hospitality Challenge

12th October 2021

On the 26th September 11 teams from hospitality came together and ran the Great Manchester 10k for the Tim Bacon Foundation.  There were 90 runners from  Australasia, Blackhouse, Tattu, Grand Pacific,  Barlows Electrical, Gaucho, Alchemist, Robinsons, Arc Inspirations and Gusto.

Shortages in staff and the petrol crisis meant that some people unfortunately had to drop out last minute.  Big Shout out to The Alchemist Leeds who drove around for petrol for 40 mins with no luck.  They managed to jump on a train last minute getting to the start line 10 minutes before their race started.

Our stand was buzzing with our runners and friends from Prevent Breast Cancer, Maggies and Kidscan.  Hospitality certainly put the ‘fun’ in fundraising.

At the end of the race everyone went for a post run drink to The Alchemist Spinningfield where everyone reflected on their times and the atmosphere of the day.

Tim Bacon Memorial Cup 2021

2nd September 2021

Following a forced year off the battle for Tim Bacon Memorial Cup Cricket match was back on.

Paul Campbell XI took on Ian Edward XI again following on from his win last year.   We wish to congratulate Ian Edward and his team for their 2nd win. It is now 2 wins each, the battle will be on next year to see who edges ahead.

A big thank you to everyone for contributing their match fees and fines to the TBF you have raised an incredible amount.  You are all winners in our eyes…
