It was a great turn out on Sunday the 19th May and we wish to thank everyone that ran the Great Manchester Run on behalf of the Tim Bacon Foundation. We welcomed teams from Australasia, Grand Pacific, Gusto Knutsford, New World Trading, Barlows Electrical and CGA Insights. A special shout out also goes to the team of volunteers from The Alchemist.
8.30am saw the start of the Half Marathon and we had one runner smash it in 1hr 41mins!. Most of our runners ran the 10K which set off at a more civilized time of 1pm. I have to mention the two people who ran both the Half Marathon and the 10K!
With our charity tent presence in the village next door to our friends The Christie, we shared our space with Maggie’s Manchester, Prevent Breast Cancer and Kidscan. A great opportunity for the three charities to work together.
After the run our participants were treated to a massage from students from the BSc Sports Injury degree from Salford University. We can not recommend them highly enough what a great job they did in rejuvenating #TeamTimBacon.
The day ended at The Oast House in Spinningfields for a fabulous party to celebrate the naming of the Tim Bacon Foundation stage. Entertainment was kindly provided by Genre Music and we had donations of fabulous raffle prizes from venues around the city. The prizes included a signed Manchester United ball from the Manchester United Foundation and a signed Manchester City Shirt.
A massive thank you to everyone who supported both events.
