The Brain Tumour Charity’s core commitments include: driving best lifelong care, accelerating cures for all brain tumours and raising their global voice.
Donations and fundraising are directed into a combination of research, support services (for patients, families, carers), and awareness/education campaigns.
The main areas of their work are:
• Funding world-class medical research into the biology, causes, diagnosis and treatment of brain tumours.
• Providing support and information to everyone affected by brain tumours, no matter where they live.
• Raising awareness of the signs, symptoms and effects of brain tumours among the public and healthcare professionals. £29,450 is an incredible amount to be donated and we want to assure you that this will make a huge difference within the brain tumour community.
- £100 could enable 10 patients to receive a crucial information pack at diagnosis to reduce anxiety and confusion.
- £250 could fund the cost of 25 DNA preservation tubes for use in one of our clinical trials.
- £300 could pay for a whole day of research, bringing us closer to curing brain tumours.
- £500 could fund the cost of storing a tissue sample and genomic data in a biobank for a patient on one of our clinical trials.
- £750 could fund 33 hours of support from a Young Adult worker!
- £10,000 could fund the creation of cutting-edge ‘mini brain’ lab models called organoids that help researchers study brain tumour biology and safely test new drugs.
